They Shall Keep The Way Of The Lord The education centering in the family was that which prevailed in the days of the patriarchs. – Education, pg. 33 When you hear that word patriarch, what name or names come to your mind? — Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Enoch, and Noah. Yes, you know there’s a line of 20 men from Adam on down to Abraham. We think of those as the great patriarchs, and then on down through Isaac and Jacob. What was God’s plan of education in that patriarchal time? The education centering [Where?] in the family [In the home] was that which prevailed in the days of the patriarchs.…

    Preparing for Marriage part 8

Guarding the Home Let us turn to Revelation the 14th chapter. I love the book of Revelation, don‟t you? It is focused especially on this last generation. The first five verses of the 14th chapter of Revelation give us a picture of the 144,000, the special company that are developed by the threefold message of Revelation 14:6-12. You notice in the first verse that they are seen standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb, having His name and His Father‟s name written in their foreheads. In other words, they reflect the image of Jesus fully. In verses two and three we hear them singing that wonderful song, that song that…

The Wedding Ceremony   I invite you to turn to Isaiah 62:4, 5. Notice how God compares, illustrates, His love for His people, His church, by referring to this institution and experience of marriage: “Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah” Isaiah 62:4. The margin tells you that, that name means “my delight is in her.” “And thy land Beulah” Isaiah 62:4. The margin tells you that that word means “married.” “For the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons…

    Preparing for Marriage part 6

Pleasing Him I want to tell you what great inspiration I get from looking into your faces, young and old, children and parents and young people, all anxious to find out what best pleases the Lord. That is the happy way to live, dear folks. 2 Timothy 2:4: “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” 2 Timothy 2:4. Who has chosen us to be His soldiers? Jesus. And our business is to do what? To please Him. Isn‟t that something to live for? Just to please the Master. Turn over now to…

Important Questions Proverbs 11:14: “Where no counsel is, the people fall” Proverbs 11:14. And I might add, fall in love. Where there is no what? Counsel. If we want to walk the upward way of successful marriage we walk the way of counsel. In fact, in Testimonies to Ministers, page 501, [is a statement] not dealing particularly with marriage, but it lays down a general principle. I would like to read it to you: “Meekness and lowliness of heart will lead men to desire counsel at every step” Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, page 501. If we don’t desire counsel at every step, what is it that we lack?…

    Preparing for Marriage part 4

Early Steps At the beginning of our study tonight I would like to raise this question, or rather, make this statement. (I don‟t want to even, by raising the question, seem to indicate that there is any uncertainty about the matter.) Here is the marvelous fact, my friends, and I am speaking to the unmarried. If God has planned for you to be married, there is a special one that He has planned for you to be married to. Now, in my class for the married that I had some weeks ago, I pointed out that the enemy is ready and willing to take advantage of that fact, and cause…

The Narrow Way Brings Joy Our opening text this evening is Psalm 16:11. Will you read with me? “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” Psalms 16:11. Does Jesus want us to be happy? Where is the happiness, does this say? In the path, in His presence. “Thou wilt show me the path of” Psalms 16:11, What? “Life” Psalm 16:11. Yes. This is the path of life. And it will be shown to all who seek God for it. Now turn to Adventist Home, page 99. We have a statement there that we…

Love and Self-control Our first text this evening is found in Luke 6:47-49. Here are the closing words of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. In this, He gives us the program for successful home building: “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.. But he that heareth, and doeth not is like a man that…

    Preparing for Marriage Part 1

“That Your Joy May be Full” Our opening text this evening will be found in John 15:11. I want you to notice what the purpose of the Lord’s instruction is – why God tells us something: “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full” John 15:11. Why does God tell us things? So that we will have what? Joy. How much? Full. Isn’t that wonderful? Well, if we’re full of joy, then we’re joyful. Is that right? Oh, I hope that every one of you in this room, as the result of studying these wonderful principles, will…

Points to Note in Health Food Ministry

Points to Note in Health Food Ministry 1. Good judgment must be exercised in employing persons to do this special work—persons who love God and who walk before Him in all humility, persons who will be effective agencies in God’s hand for the accomplishment of the object He has in view—the uplifting and saving of human beings. 2. Medical missionary evangelists will be able to do excellent pioneer work. The work of the minister should blend fully with that of the medical missionary evangelist. 3. The physician and the minister should realize that they are engaged in the same work. They should labor in perfect harmony. They should counsel together.…
